A white golden retriever is different

Golden Retrievers have always been recognized by its color. The first choice for a pet in the family, Golden Retriever, with its calm and composed behavior and intelligence beats all breeds in its category. A white golden retriever is different. The breed is popular in the United Sates of America however not as much as in England, Australia and Europe.

The golden retriever with its various shades ranging from red and gold, yellow to brown has been one among the choicest of breeds for a pet. There are however differences in the pedigree of the breed which are reared in US and in European countries. The major differences are subtle and can be noticed only by someone who cares to know the pet in such detail.

The one distinguishing feature is the eyes which are dark and round and the white golden retriever owing to be lighter in complexion makes the eyes look even darker. The normal golden retriever which is commonly seen has shiny skin and comes in a shade of gold. With longer muzzle and a delicate, triangular shaped head they can be easily recognized anywhere. Noticeably their tails are bent towards the end and are longer. Generally these are nearly 3 inches taller than the British golden retrievers.

A large Dog collar for our canine companion

Accessories for pets are on the increase. Collars are one of them. There are a large big collar with studs and spikes embellished on them. There are also dog collars modest in design. The collars are available in pet shops. Yet again there are large dog collars in different materials. There are leather collars and even silk and satin ones. The pet shops teem with varieties of small and large dog collars.

The whole question on a large dog collar rests on the pet’s master’s taste. The purchase of the collars has become a personal thing. According to the personality of the master, the dog’s collars vary. If the master is a pompous figure who loves to show off his attire in a dandyish way, he’d select a large dog collar in a costly material that is heavily designed and has a grand exterior.  If the master is a modest and a simple person, who is also attired in a simple and a neat fashion, he’d probably not go for a large dog collar. He’d prefer a small and neat dog collar, that he thinks is suitable for his little pet.

Stop Dog biting by understanding dog psychology

Dog biting is a problem which many dog owners face .Be it the case of a newly purchased pup, a few days old or in the case of a matured older dog, the problem of dog biting persists. In order to control  stop dog biting and to find a solution to the same, it is necessary to understand the psychology of a puppy that starts biting and the way his mother trains him about the different nuances and after effects of biting.

We as human beings mix up with human psychology with dog psychology. What is to be understood is that dogs though very intelligent do not think or react like us. This has to be carefully taken into consideration while tackling the problem of dog biting.

Dogs unlike human beings do not have rationale or logic. They do not understand the consequence of their behavior. They only react to different situations.

For example the postman arrives and the sight of him makes the dog wild with crazy barking. The dog here is just reacting to a particular stimulus.

So when tackling dog biting, you have to handle a situation when you teach that biting is wrong .However he is allowed to chew and bite his toys. These are a few ways to understand and stop dog biting.

A dog obedience class is the best way to teach a dog

There are many advantages of having a dog as a pet. You will be able to sleep happily at night knowing that your dog is standing on guard and taking care of the house, making sure that nobody comes home to burgle in the night. You would also be able to play with it whenever you want and have lots of fun with it. Even your children would have a lot of fun while playing with a dog. But first, it is important to take it to a dog obedience class.

The reason is that dogs need to be first trained on what the right behaviour is and what is not. They will be taught not to jump or bark on new comers who come to the house on some work or the other. There are many dogs that don’t like the postman or will try to chase away anybody that comes to the house.

With the help of a dog obedience class, that behaviour can be taken out of the dos so that it will be calm even when somebody comes home with you. They will only make a ruckus when somebody comes in the night with an evil intention.

Dog Health Problems – treating itchy skin

Itchy skin in dogs is caused by a variety of dog health problems. It can be a very testing time for you in trying to maintain the coat as well as the skin of your dog. It can soon snowball into a big health concern if you do not take care of it in the initial stages itself. This means, it is quite important to determine the exact cause of the itchy skin. The next stage is to treat it and restore the skin health of your dog.

Quite often, itchy skin is caused by bacterial and fungal infections and allergies. The most common cause of itchy skin amongst dogs is contact dermatitis. This is a skin condition that is caused by using skin products like shampoos, detergents, colognes or perfumes for your dog. Some of the other reasons include mites, fleas, scabies or tick infestation, yeast infections, dry skin and food allergies.

Once you have been able to identify the reasons for the itchy skin, it becomes quite easy to treat these dog health problems. If the itchy skin is because of allergies, you can administer antihistamines in order to treat the condition. In case of itchy skin because of food allergy, it is better to avoid the food that causes the condition. Finally, take your dog to the vet periodically in order to prevent such type of dog health problems.

Training a dachshund could actually be fun!

Training a dachshund is not a one man task. Therefore, it is advisable for you to enrol your puppy in a discipline school where under the guidance of expert trainers, your dog is in better control. However, you should also make your dog obey your commands, because at the end of the day it is your pet and you have to look after it.

Maintain a patient attitude and do not get disheartened if your dog does not listen to you. Keep the spirit going on and make him obey you. Follow one teaching method and do not make it too difficult for your doggy to understand you. Use simple and preferably one word commands. And do not jump onto teaching a new command, unless you make sure it has learnt the previous one perfectly.

Make the training as interesting and fun filled as possible, as this way it is likely to learn more. The key to any training a dachshund is rewarding it. Never forget to reward your pet, once he performs the task successfully. After every training activity pat him on his back, take him for a walk or show him that he has been appreciated. This boosts its confidence and thereby tends to repeat the behaviour in future.

Now it is easy to cure dog separation anxiety

Dogs are the friendliest among the pets. They get easily attached with the owner. This has lot of advantages and disadvantages. We usually prefer dogs as pet just because of the reason that they are very friendly but this friendly nature is good in one way and bad in another way. When it comes to controlling dog’s behavior we usually need a proper training from a proper trainer. Dog’s attachment with the owner usually creates a close relationship and when the owner tends to go away from them it usually ends up in dog separation anxiety.

Dogs are usually very much packed when it comes to its surrounding. The advantage of this is that we get another member as part of our family and the disadvantage is the problem of separation anxiety. Now when it comes to make your dogs realize the situation it is only possible by means of proper dog training.

Now training your dog is just being responsible with your and this in no way is being mean with it. This is the one step solution to cure dog separation anxiety. “Now if you own a dog and feel it is undergoing the same problem them it is time to put it to training.”

Myths about Dog Clicker

Dog clicker is a wonderful device that gives dog owners a great opportunity to train their dog efficiently without having to go through many troubles or expenses. Although, even after having gained worldwide recognition, this technique has had quite a few oppositions.

There have been various misconceptions about this training method. One of them being that the dog stops performing the trick without the use of a dog clicker. This is not true as the clicker is only used for a specific period of time and is discontinued once it is registered with dog’s brain. Another myth about it is that the dogs get distracted by other people’s clicks. This again is not true as in most cases it has been found to respond to only its owner’s clicker and gets used to the other clickers buzzing in the background.

People also have this belief that if the owner stops carrying any treats when dog grows up, the dog will fail to respond to the dog clicker or will stop performing the said tricks. Again, these are all misconceptions that come with it and should be avoided. The best thing to do is to experience it for you and build a better relationship with your dog rather than going for someone else’s verdict.

Aggressive dog behavior at punishment

Puppies are in development stage when they are 6 weeks old and most of them show aggressive behavior at this age. It requires training and socialization at this stage to ward off any inappropriate behavior like biting humans. This training should continue for a period of 14 weeks in order to socialize the dog with other dogs and human beings. During this period the owner should treat the puppy with love and gentleness in order to avoid aggressive dog behavior in future.

There are many types of aggression in dogs. One of them is punishment aggression. When the master yells at the dog, or shows a threatening finger or hits with a news paper, the dog retorts by barking, snarling or biting. This happens because of the owner’s ignorance to communicate with the dog and understand its behavior. Simple things like avoiding the dog from furniture also become big problems if he doesn’t know how to behave with the dog. Grabbing the dog by the jowls, holding him with the mouth closed, hitting him with a newspaper, showing a harsh finger – all these are abuses of behavior.

This kind of punishment doesn’t solve any problem but it increases aggressive dog behavior. If this continues the dog may not accept even the petting of his master.
